June 1st, 2026
Dear Families,
As we move into the final stretch of the school year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on a busy and productive May while also sharing some of the exciting opportunities and celebrations ahead in June. I realized in the midst of this busy season that I have not shared any May highlights with you.
Last month, we successfully completed all of our scheduled fire drills, with one remaining lockdown drill to take place shortly. Practicing these routines remains an important part of keeping our school community safe. EQAO assessments are currently underway – grade 3s started writing them at the end of May, while grade 6 students will begin writing them tomorrow.
In terms of exciting things coming up this month, we have our Welcome to School event in the gym, when we look forward to welcoming in our newest Bandits for the 2026-2027 school year. Our Volunteer Breakfast on June 12th is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate your support — a special thank you to those who supported our tree planting and watering efforts!
In terms of things to look forward to, our system is changing its electronic devices allocations, and we are going to be given a ratio of 2:1 devices per student for the next school year. A wonderful way to make your voice heard and give us some feedback on school items such as our website, and handbook is to connect with School council.
In terms of a few key events in June, we have these exciting things coming up:
- Rainbow Day – Celebrating diversity, inclusion, and belonging in our school of all families and gender expressions
- National Indigenous History Month: Students will engage in meaningful learning experiences, including a puppet show for primary students and lacrosse learning for Grades 4–5
- We look forward to celebrating our Grade 6 students as they prepare for the transition to the next stage of their learning journey
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to finishing the school year together on a positive and memorable note.
Warm regards,
Carolina Miranda
Principal
