Dear families and caregivers:

I hope you had a quiet and replenishing weekend and enjoyed the cool weather with a warm drink or a warm blanket!

We had a quiet week last week, and our school is beginning to settle into routines, as well as working towards some exciting things!

We are so pleased to announce that beyond our participation in the city’s Phil Kline UnSilent Night (which our students are super excited about), we are also going to host a Winter Concert on December 19th. More information and details will be shared soon, but please pencil in that date on your calendars for now.

We are very happy that our students have these opportunities to engage in joyous activities that are creative, and that help build school and community spirit.

Have a wonderful week ahead,

Ms. Carolina Miranda

Remembrance Day, November 11

A reminder that as per our message shared on School Day, we are unable to accommodate parents and caregivers in our gym during our Remembrance Day assembly. Please rest assured we have a beautiful celebration prepared for our students that will honour all of those who have fought, and continue to fight, for freedom and peace.

Blair Road Movie Night for grades 4-6 students – November 20th

A reminder that our next movie night for Junior students (grades 4-6) is coming up on Wednesday, November 20th at 6:00 PM in the gym. The School Council will be providing a bag of popcorn for each student. Please bring a reusable water bottle. Also, feel free to bring a blanket or pillow to get comfy on the gym floor. Students who wish to attend must be supervised by an adult. Movie  If you have any questions please email blairroadschoolcouncil@gmail.com.

Phil Kline’s Unsilent Night – November 22nd

The event page at the City of Cambridge is being updated regularly. Keep checking for more details. Our school will be participating with an installation that is student created, supported by our educators, and under the guidance of artist Gary Kirkham (his name will be on the list of artists and on the map of displays when it is released).

Blair Road Winter Concert – December 19th

We are looking forward to welcoming our parent and caregiver community on December 19th for our Winter Concert. I will share more details soon. For now, please pencil this date on your calendar.

Running Club Supervisors – Ongoing

If you have a passion for running and you are also looking for opportunities to get involved with our school in the Spring, then please connect with Mr. Bolton. He is looking for more volunteers for Running Club. Please get in touch with Mr. Bolton directly by emailing him at michael_bolton@wrdsb.ca if interested.

Art Supply Donations Welcome – Ongoing!

Do you have extra art supplies at home that are gathering dust? We are excited to announce that our school is now accepting donations of gently used or new art supplies! If you have any paints, brushes, paper, markers, or other materials in excess, we’d love to put them to good use in our classrooms. Our wonderful School Council Co-Chairs have kindly offered to organize and distribute the supplies, ensuring they find their way into the hands of our students and teachers. Your contributions will help support creativity and art education throughout the school.

Donations can be dropped off at the main office, and we sincerely thank you for your generosity!

Community Flyers

The WRDSB offers community organizations and not-for-profits the opportunity to share information on their programs and services with our schools on our Community E-Flyers website. Each week we will share the most recent flyers shared with the Board in this newsletter in hopes that you share this information with your community if you deem it appropriate.
