March Music Madness
Our March Music Madness has officially begun! Students and staff are enjoying a wide range of songs, and the energy around this initiative has been fantastic – thanks to Ms. Morton’s initiative. Top Level Taekwondo Visit
We recently welcomed the TLT team into our school, and the visit could not have gone better. They were incredibly impressed—not only by the dedication and professionalism of our educators, but by the politeness and engagement of our students. Our learners truly shined, and the team raved about the positive atmosphere they experienced here at Blair Rd PS.

Environmental Stewardship: Microforest Planting
Our school is excited to share that the new microforest planting is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2026. More information will be coming soon, but the Blair community is warmly invited to join. While planting on a weekend may pose challenges for some, students, families, and staff are all welcome to participate. The sponsor group will also be bringing some of their own children to help. This will be a wonderful opportunity for environmental learning, community building, and leaving a legacy for future students.

Rainbow Day & Pride Month
Our staff has decided to continue supporting Rainbow Day and will be moving forward with age‑appropriate learning and celebration during Pride Month in June. Educators will receive resources to use at their discretion, and we will wrap up with a joyful outdoor “free‑flow” activity day centered on love, kindness, acceptance, and belonging.

Eco Team Updates
Our Eco Team has been hard at work!

• Winter Fun Day was a big success!
• Our Birdhouse Competition runs from March 9–27. Nine winners will receive birdhouse kits handmade by students at Glenview Park.
• On March 27, we will participate in Earth Hour / The Great Gulp. Each class will take part in an hour‑long environmental activity of their choice to raise awareness about water conservation and the impact of single‑use plastics. Students can also take part in an “eye‑spy” display case challenge for a chance to win one of twenty Blair Road water bottles.
• Earth Week (April 20–24) will feature a guest speaker from the rare Charitable Nature Reserve, presenting engaging sessions on worms for our kindergarten, primary, and junior classes. Planning is also underway for a school‑wide art activity and a centre or snack connected to our free‑flow outdoor play day.
• Discussions with the Garden Sub‑Committee continue, and we are beginning to consider whether a springyard clean‑up might be added to our eco efforts—more to come!

Choir Highlights
Our choir delivered an outstanding performance of the national anthem at the Kitchener Rangers game on February 10. With 32 enthusiastic members, they did a wonderful job and represented Blair Road with pride.

Galt Skating Races
This year’s Galt Skating Races will take place on Friday, March 27 at 7:00 p.m. at the Galt Arena Gardens.

• Tickets are $2 each.
• Our school has received 50 complimentary tickets for participating skaters and 60 additional tickets for sale.
• The City asks that any unsold tickets or money be returned to the arena office the night of the event.
• Tickets will also be available at the door.
• Mrs. Ellis and Mr. Bolton will be the supervising teachers, and race information will be sent home soon.

Chess Club
Our Chess Club continues to grow! We now have around 20 students playing at nutrition break, with new members joining each week. The demonstration board has been a huge help—thank you!

Basketball Season
Our Grade 5 and 6 basketball league wrapped up in early February. From this group, 18 players were invited to join the school team. Our final games are going to be at the Galt Cup, on March 31st at Southwood Secondary School.

EQAO Update
We are thrilled to share that our EQAO scores have shown significant improvement across the board. You are invited to explore the public‑facing EQAO website to view the results in more detail. We are very proud of the growth demonstrated by our students.

Facilities Update
The drainage issue in the black tarmac area has recently been assessed by Facilities. The drains, which had not been cleared in approximately 20 years, were cleaned a few weeks ago. We are hopeful this will greatly improve water accumulation concerns moving forward into the warmer Spring months.

As we head into March Break, I want to wish all of our families a restful, joyful, and rejuvenating week ahead. It’s hard to believe that the last March 13 we experienced just before March Break was the one that preceded the COVID shutdown. Perhaps this year marks the closing of that chapter—and the beginning of something new and wonderful for our school community.
